The 6.5 megawatt solar plant on the Aldi Suisse distribution centre in Perlen is groundbreaking for the strategy and active expansion of aventron's solar segment.
Electricity production from solar energy is a key pillar of the Swiss and European energy transition. In Switzerland, an average of around 300 megawatts of new photovoltaic capacity has been added each year in recent years. In this area, aventron is one of the most active investors and operators in Switzerland and owns, among others, the two largest rooftop installations: the 8.3 megawatt installation in Onnens (VD) and the 6.5 megawatt installation in Perlen (LU).
The latter won the Solar Prize 2020 in the PlusEnergyBuildings category. The award ceremony took place on 20 October in Aarau under the auspices of the Solar Agency Switzerland. The project partners BE Netz, Aldi Suisse and aventron accepted the prize.
aventron expects an accelerated expansion of solar energy in Switzerland, as an essential component of decarbonisation, the net-zero targets and the Energy Strategy 2050. aventron is very well positioned to continue to be one of the leading operators. In spring 2020, for example, aventron took over the 10-megawatt Agere portfolio with around 30 PV plants in southern Ticino.
In Spain, aventron's 50 megawatt Bargas solar project was also connected to the grid in June. This is a solar power plant that can be operated economically without any subsidies. In Italy, 36 megawatts of free-field solar power plants produce electricity for aventron. These are to be supplemented with 60 to 80 megawatts in new projects over the next few years. To this end, aventron is actively engaged in project development with its own pipeline, both in Italy and France. This new wave of projects, like the Bargas plant, will provide renewable energy to the grid without subsidies
