KKB participates in Europe’s largest solar power plant development

KKB AG participates with 24 Megawatt in the 300 Megawatt photovoltaic plant development scheme Cestas in the south-west of France.

On the 4th of November financial close was achieved for a series of photovoltaic power plants with a total installed capacity of 300 Megawatt to be erected in the south-west of France out of which KKB will controlled 24MW through its subsidiary Solaire Prime. The project located in the municipality of Cestas in the south west of Bordeaux was developed over several years by neoen, an established French developer and producer of renewable energy. Responsibility for the construction of all the facilities lies with a consortium of Eiffage-Clemessy / Schneider Electric/ Krinner, which will also provide operations and maintenance services. The total investment amount required to realize the 300 Megawatt power plant park exceeds 360 million Euros. The plants are connected directly to the RTE high voltage grid and will go into operation in September 2015.

Overall the power plant park will generate 350 Gigawatt hours in electric power per annum, which corresponds to the consumption of the entire population of Bordeaux with its 240’000 residents. The photovoltaic power plants of KKB, with their 24 Megawatt in capacity, will generate about 28 Gigawatt hours in renewable power.

KKB expands its solar portfolio significantly through taking part in this ground-breaking development. By 2020 KKB would like to own 65 Megawatt in installed solar capacity throughout France, Italy and Switzerland.
